Another feature here at MiniFortress.com will be Flash Game O(f)T(he)W(eek). I play a lot of flash games in my spare time and I’d like to share some of them with you. Some of these you’ve already played and some could be new. Regardless, you can show up each Wednesday and be sure to find a new (and most likely good) flash game to play. This week I’ve been playing Continuity.
Continuity is a simple game to pick up and play, but it features a unique puzzle mechanic that is hard to ignore. The main objective of each level is to obtain the red key and reach the exit, which also happens to be red. The kicker here is that each level is arranged like a slide puzzle and almost never matches up correctly. It is up to you to match the pieces together (make sure the edges match) to create the correct path forward. You will be switching out to this mode frequently; the rest plays out like a simple platformer.
Continuity starts off easy, but becomes more complex later in the game. There are 32 levels to overcome and even more if you pursue Continutiy 2 on the iPhone/iPad.
Continuity is an award winning game that has picked up both the Best Student Game at IGF 2010 and the Gameplay Innovation Award at Indiecade 2010. I can easily see why as this game takes a unique concept and makes a fun, easy to play game. If you need to waste some time, Continuity will be the perfect way to do so.
