Every now and then a certain song will come along and get stuck in my damn head. Tonight it’s the little ditty above from EarthBound, you jerk.
Whenever I remember playing EarthBound as a kid, this is the track that stands out immediately. I remember how cool it was to just walk around Onett and explore. For me, exploring Onett actually came before continuing the rest of the game. Who wouldn’t want to do a little exploring? There is a Town Hall, Drugstore, Burger Shop and even an Arcade, so there isn’t a lack of stuff to do.
I was completely gobsmacked with the sheer size of Onett and looking back it’s easy to see why EarthBound was so much fun. It oozes charm around every corner, even if it is something simple like having a Pizza shop. EarthBound made you feel connected to its world and just hearing the Onett theme brings back nostalgic feelings of wonder.
