Unfortunately, the answer to that question is yes. This news comes straight out of the latest issue of Famitsu. Famitsu is a Japanese magazine, but Nintendo isn’t exactly a stranger to region locking their consoles in other regions.
This is not such a big deal for me personally, but there are tons of gamers that like to import games from other regions, so restricting them seems a bit odd. Though, as Nintendo usually locks their consoles, this restriction was to be somewhat expected.
