Just this morning, news of Flipnote Studio 3D broke after a Nintendo Direct segment aired in Japan. Now, Nintendo of America has confirmed that Flipnote Studio 3D will be coming to North America. All you artist types out there will be able to download Flipnote Studio 3D from the Nintendo eShop on their Nintendo 3DS starting this Summer. Best of all? The software and will be free to download.
You will also be able to share and interact with other Flipnote creations using some of the software’s gallery features. There will be a Flipnote Gallery: Friends, a free service that will let you interact with users on your friends list. You’ll be able to share your Flipnotes, rate and comment on your friends’ Flipnotes, and download/save your favourites.
Flipnote Gallery: World will be a paid service to interact with anyone in the world. There will be a small monthly fee to use the Flipnote Gallery: World service, however, users will get a free 30 day trial, plus the service will be available for free on select dates. Also, if you’re a Flipnote Gallery: World user, you can be rewarded with a free month of service if you consistently receive high ratings on your creations.
Lastly, the current web based and DSi based services for the original Flipnote Studios will cease to exist starting May 31, 2013, however, the software will still work without the online component. These communities will be shifted over to the new Flipnote Gallery: Friends and Flipnote Gallery: World communities.
