Construct 2 Adding Support for Wii U Developers

Scirra, creators of the easiest to use game development tool, Construct 2, are announcing support for Wii U developers. Game developers will soon be able to create and self-publish games on the Wii U using the Construct 2 software. An option to port games using the Nintendo Web Framework will be added to Construct 2 in a future update. However, there is a catch: you need to become a Nintendo Authorised Developer before you can publish on the Wii U.

So, to publish your Construct 2 game on the Wii U, you will need the following:

  • Become a Nintendo Authorised Developer (apply here)
  • A Wii U development kit to test your games.
  • A Construct 2 Personal license (or Business license when applicable)

This opens up a world of possibilities for game developers looking to get their games on Nintendo’s digital storefront, the Nintendo eShop.

    Good spot, good story!

Glad to see this… I hope it results in more indie support for the Wii U, to at least keep a steady stream of games coming to the console between Nintendo’s own releases.

I’m a huge fan of Scirra’s software and I’m excited they could add this kind of support. There are a lot of talented indie developers out there using Construct 2, so I can see a ton of games on the way! Finally, a little good news for Nintendo.
