Nintendo of America announced on Wednesday March 27th that Netflix is now available on Nintendo TVii. Selecting Netflix movies and shows from Nintendo TVii should launch Netflix right away.

Day One Wii U Update to Bring Significant Online Features

IGN is reporting that some significant Wii U features are missing from the console upon opening their review unit from Nintendo. However, there is no need to worry as Nintendo is preparing an update on launch day that will bring these features to the console. Among these features are Miiverse, Nintendo TVii, the Nintendo eShop, and the console’s real time communication system.

Journalists are scheduled to receive the update shortly before the console’s official launch, but an upcoming Nintendo Direct may shed some light before then.

Nintendo TVii was another big surprise coming from today’s Wii U event. Nintendo TVii will be included with both Wii U packages and will work as a hub for all your current entertainment services. Netflix, hulu PLUS, Amazon Instant Video, DVRs, and even some networks will be supported.

Nintendo TVii will be a place to search/browse for TV shows, Movies, Sports that all included Wii U GamePad features. Share your favourites with family members and the Miiverse, get up-to-date Football stats, and a whole lot more is expected from the service.

Nintendo TVii is just a hub for all your existing entertainment services, so you will already have to be subscribed to them. Nintendo TVii won’t cost you a dime more than what you pay for those other services. It will be available to everyone that buys a Wii U console.
