Those waiting for the Wii U release of Zen Pinball 2 don’t have to wait much longer. Zen Studios announced a March 21 release date for the game yesterday. The game is a free download with tables available for purchase at launch.
Not much is known about this title from Dakko Dakko, but it is scheduled for release on the Wii U Nintendo eShop sometime in 2013. Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails looks to combine fast paced shooting action with an on-rails platforming mechanic. Sounds unique, but we’ll have to wait for more information, for now you can pick apart the press release.
Wii U Project Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails to Launch on Nintendo eShop in 2013
Wales, UK, February 13th 2013. Dakko Dakko has announced that it is an officially licensed Wii U™ developer and is bringing its new title, Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails, exclusively to Nintendo’s latest platform. Set to launch via the Nintendo eShop in 2013, Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails (working title) is a brand new action title featuring Dakko Dakko’s distinctive blend of tight, rewarding game mechanics and whimsical characters.
Rhodri Broadbent, founder, Dakko Dakko said “Our new game came into being almost as soon as I heard about the Wii U and its Wii U™ GamePad. I’ve long been fascinated by the different experiences made possible when playing a game in your hands compared with playing on a TV, and the chance to combine the best of both worlds in a brand-new HD action game was irresistible.”
Dan Croucher, producer, Dakko Dakko said “As a small console team with big ambitions, we couldn’t ask for a better platform to be working on than Wii U and we’re overjoyed to be awarded official developer status by Nintendo.” He continues, “Miiverse™ is an amazing opportunity for independent developers like us to connect with our players, and great games like Trine 2 and The Cave are making the Nintendo eShop feel like a very classy neighbourhood indeed – I can’t wait for Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails to join them.”
Dakko Dakko’s recently expanded team is again enlisting the visual talents of Army of Trolls’ Gary Lucken, to give Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails a striking and vibrant graphical style. The game itself will mix fast-paced shooting gameplay with a unique rail-riding platformer mechanic to provide a modern twist on classic arcade action, with more details to be announced shortly.
Broadbent added, “All of us at Dakko Dakko share a common love of arcade action games old and new, and we’re working hard to ensure our latest game can claw itself a place alongside the best of them.”

Mutant Mudds Deluxe is just around the corner with a March 2013 release planned for the Wii U eShop title. Renegade Kid has mentioned that the deluxe version of Mutant Mudds will come packed with everything you’ve already seen in Mutant Mudds, plus some exclusive content for the Wii U version. We know that the game will be in HD and that it will play on the Wii U GamePad touchscreen, but what is this exclusive content they keep talking about?
Mutant Mudds Deluxe will feature 20 brand new levels inspired by the Ghost Houses from Super Mario World. These new levels are in addition to the already hefty batch of 60 levels from the 3DS, PC, and iOS versions. These new levels will feature new ghost enemies that can only be defeated with a new power-up. Joining the three power-ups from the regular version is a ghost shot power-up. The new levels will unlock as you play through the game and can be accessed via the HUB. These levels also seem to be a parallel universe modification of the original 20 levels.
These new features are exciting, but perhaps the best new feature comes in the form of checkpoints. These checkpoints will no doubt serve as a helping hand to those struggling through some of the more challenging levels from Mutant Mudds.
Double Fine’s Ron Gilbert tweeted the release date and price for The Cave about an hour ago. Those looking forward to The Cave on the Wii U eShop will be able to hop on and download the game next Tuesday, January 22. It is a bit unusual for digital titles to be released outside of a Thursday on Nintendo platforms, but gamers looking forward to the title will be happy to get their hands on it a little earlier.
In addition to the release date, Ron Gilbert also stated that The Cave will sell for $14.99 in North America. The Cave will also be available on PSN that day, and on X-box Live Arcade and Steam the following day.
